Way back in the 1990s a couple of lampposts in Round Hill died. “Just get it fixed”, right? Apparently not. The electricians would not lean a ladder against the cast iron post because they could not isolate the power first. The switch is at the top of the post, not at the bottom. Not up to modern health and safety standards. A simple solution is to fit a new switch in a separate pavement level box, but these are not acceptable in our Conservation Area. Impasse – and it has been for several years.
