Lewes Road, Brighton, gets air quality station

I was wandering down the Lewes Road a few weeks ago when I chanced upon these guys carefully fitting a steel box to the pavement.

Air Quality measurement kit being installed by precision engineering team with big hammers

Its part of the Lewes Road Traffic and Environmental Improvement Programme which has seen new seats, bike racks, planters installed, tatty signs replaced or removed (a lot were well out of date) and wooden fencing put around our recycling bins.  Heavy traffic remains a problem, but this station might provide ammunition for stricter vehicle controls.
