Developing the Level

Our local park is the Level, and it’s shut until next summer because the Council won a lot of National Lottery money to improve it.  I have been busy saying what I think is needed (they asked the public to get involved) and one of my biggest worries is that the redevelopment will not value the natural stones already there.  Walking past last week I saw neatly arranged stacks of stone.  Big rounded lumps of sarsen stone, smaller stacks of limestone from collapsing boundary walls, and big natural kerbstones.

Big sarsens in front, kerbstones to left, limestone stacks at back, along with stone columns from demolished structures in play area.

I just hope they are here for re-use, and not for disposal.
