The Christmas Conglomerate

On the 12th December our geological society gathered at the Booth Museum to eat, drink, listen to several short talks by members and test their knowledge with a geological quiz set every year by John Cooper.  It was a good gathering, but its a couple of stuffed and mounted animal heads I particularly wanted to show you.  On one of the outer corridors is a display of animal heads, and two of them feature in a little animal song by Flanders and Swan.

Hartebeest on the left, and a gnu on the right

Hartebeest on the left, and a gnu on the right

‘Call me Bison, or Okapi and I’ll sue

Nor am I in the least

like that dreadful Hartebeest

Oh, G-no, g-no, g-no, I’m a g-nu.’
