Down to Hove seafront

Was indoors for most of the last two days so felt the need of exercise.  A brisk walk to the sea in Hove promised a rare sight – the beach marching onto the prom.  And so it was.

Huge amounts of seaweed, must collect some for the asparagus bed.  Also found lumps of a black fine-grained rock, much lighter than flint, some with holes bored into them by a marine beast.

I'm guessing its from a band of mudstone exposed in the sea floor somewhere nearby. Thought it might have been lignite, but it doesn't burn.
