Sunshine, Kiss, Van Morrison and Moondance

Glorious sunshine yesterday tempted me down to the beach with plastic sacks and old rucksack to collect seaweed for the asparagus bed on the allotment – they like the salt.

Popped into the Ranelagh for a pint at noon.  Music was Van Morrison.  The barmaid and I agreed that Moondance and Astral Weeks were his best albums ever.  Drank two halves of Harvey’s Kiss – their Rodin-celebrating Valentines Day in February seasonal ale.  Some discussion around the bar noted how people were choosing it over Harvey’s Best – but this was the last barrel in the cellar.

In the afternoon decided to take empty bottles back to the Harvey’s shop in Lewes.  The young man serving me said how this was the first year when all the casks of Kiss had been sold, and they had brewed more this year than last.  Its the most successful Kiss brew ever, he assured me.  Brought some home in bottles, to keep checking the quality.

Then to the Gardener’s Arms where I found Triple F brewery’s Moondance bitter – circle of coincidence now complete.
