Its that Ladybird Book show. But first a valuable conversation with the railway booking hall man, in the course of ticket-buying conversation he told us of a good home-brew supply shop in St Leonards on Sea – in Norman Road.
Bexhill has little to recommend it, but the De La Warr Pavilion is always pleasing. The display of Ladybird books in the entrance hall kept me longest. I don’t recall having seen any as a child, but the historic and scientific ones, with their explanations of machinery and designs for working models reminded me of some teaching resources I developed, both print and CD-ROM. In the exhibition it was the flight series book on Canada that caught my attention – given we will be doing it in the summer.
After moving on to Hastings and the brew pub ‘First In, Last Out’ (Filo) to meet up with Liz, we went back to their new house for lunch. It was good to catch up with them after such a long gap.
