Equinox Beer Festival, Horsham

An e-mail suggested that without the help of CAMRA members much beer would be poured away when this event closed on Sunday evening.  Spurred by this horrible thought I arranged to meet old friend, and Horsham resident, Graham at the Drill Hall, Denne Road, Horsham at noon on Sunday 29th March for 3 hours of chat, supping and a little food.  Amazingly Graham had never attended a beer festival before, so I had to explain the process – buying tokens, a glass with marking for 1/3, 1/2 and a pint, and the programme describing the beers.  It was not crowded , so after a couple of halves we abandoned the programme and just asked for samples of beers with interesting names, or just asked for recommendations.

As good a way of getting squiffy as any.  Not too many beers – there is an hour on the bus back to Brighton – but I did forget to bring the glass (not a great design, too much big upper case lettering) and I did sleep most of the late afternoon/early evening.  The programme did feature the equinox nicely (the bar was also set out with dark beers on one side, and pale on the other).

Had halves of 360 degrees West Coast IPA, Bedlam IPA, Burning Sky Plateau, Firebird Pacific Gem (better than their Paleface), Lady Equinox Tempus Fugit (brewed by the ladies of North Sussex branch with Kissingate) and Equinox Smokin' Choc Porter (the North Sussex men's contribution)
