Kate picked us up at 10 and we headed for a mile long sand spit stretching 80% of the way across the inlet at Sooke. I had seen it on Google Earth and wanted to walk it, so we did – followed all the way by a small sparrow-like bird with black bars over and under each eye.
After walking back we found lunch in the Stone Pipe diner. This place has photographs in both mens and womens rest rooms taken early 19th century involving people in or beside big concrete pipes – some link surely?
Then on to French Bay to pose on a big Driftwood tree.
Note the two small girls hiding. When it started to rain we left the beach to buy drink for a barbecue, we are just crazy people. But the rain stopped and we could pose for a picture, Kate, Jackie, Kate’s daughter Rebecca and me.
