At the Watchmakers, Hove

Popped into the Watchmakers on Saturday 28th November for beer and chat.  Micro-pubs are so good at enabling chat.  Met a guy who’s a Chelsea supporter – on an industrial scale.  He went to an away game the week before – to Tel Aviv.  Told me there are only three nations in the wider Europe that he has not visited in pursuit of Chelsea.

But on this day he was on his way to Lancing to see their team play ‘the worst team in the league’, St Francis.  Their home ground is on the fields beside the old mental hospital in Haywards Heath – St Francis’ Hospital.  In recent times they have given away over 90 goals whilst managing to score just 6.  He was hoping to see a seventh that day.

Sampled 4 beers: Unbarred Brewery – the Long Black (rich in hops and coffee); Black Jack’s Solitaire (pale blonde and bitter); Brighton Beer’s Dealers Choice (always good and hoppy) and High Weald’s Greenside (another pale and hoppy beer).
